Jaden DeFields

Boys Program Director & High School Coach

Jaden started playing lacrosse in middle school in Bloomington IL. He picked up the goalie position early and played for numerous travel teams around the Central Illinois and Chicago areas. After high school, he continued and played for NCAA Division III school Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), while pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. Jaden currently works for Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids and is an avid golfer.

Renee Wuest

 

Girls Program Director & Coach.  I grew up in Minneapolis, MN, and started playing lacrosse when I was in 6th grade. I took a small leave from lacrosse in Highschool, but when I got to college I fell in love with the sport all over again! I Played defense in lacrosse at Cornell college for all four years and lead my team as a captain my senior year. I currently worked as a Registered Behavior Technician at Stride Autism Centers and will be Pursuing my Masters in Applied behavior analysis this fall!

Eli Honebrink

12U and 14U Coach

From Minnesota, Eli played for the club team at Purdue before moving to Iowa to work at HNI.

Alex Collins

Boys 10U Coach

Alex started playing lacrosse in elementary school in Annapolis, MD. Growing up he played all positions but began to focus on defense as he progressed. In high school, Alex played lacrosse year round and eventually won the 4A Maryland Lacrosse State Championship as a senior. After high school, he continued playing at Wesley College in NCAA Division III. Alex later transferred to Towson University and earned his degree in Business Systems and Processes. He currently lives in North Liberty with his fiancée. 

Sydney King

Girls Coach (ages 5-18)

Originally from Omaha, NE, Sydney played collegiately at Cornell College in Mt Vernon. 

Sam Ziemba

Girls (ages 5-18) Coach

Sam played attack at Skidmore College during her freshman year. After graduation, she coached high school girls’ lacrosse for three years in South Burlington, Vermont. She currently works as the Learning Communities Coordinator at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.

Meredith Merce

Girls (ages 5-18) Coach

Meredith grew up playing lacrosse in New Jersey, going on to play at New England College and coaching at the youth and high school level before moving to Iowa. She is the current Cornell College Women’s Lacrosse coach, a position she has held for six years. Meredith has recieived coaching awards from Iowa, Cornell, and New England College.

About US

Kingfisher Lacrosse represents the first organized club structure to appear in Eastern Iowa. Kingfisher Lacrosse is the operational name of the Cedar Rapids – Iowa City Lacrosse Club, a volunteer led, 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2020 to guide the development of youth lacrosse in the greater Cedar Rapids - Iowa City area.
